1. Pay a visit to Princess Sissi’s palace, Achillion
Around 10km south from the center of Corfu, stands the summer residency of Empress Elizabeth of Austria, or better known as Princess Sissi. A place filled with artworks inspired by Greek mythology and history, impressive gardens and frescoes inside the walls of the building. With many tours to the palace, you can admire the statues of Achilles from whom the building has been named and the stunning view of Corfu countryside.
2. Travel back in time inside Corfu’s Old Town
As you enter into the island’s main center, a UNESCO listed site, you will soon enough be transported to another era. Surrounded by Venetian neoclassical mansions connected through narrow alleys which once were walked by noblemen and royal figures. British and French had also influenced the island something easily visible through its architecture. Let yourself get lost in the streets along small cafes, tavernas and souvenir shops.
